Club committees are charged with carrying out the annual and long-range goals of the club based on the four “Avenues of Service.” Each avenue of service has a Director who is recruited by the President-Elect, serves on the Board, and oversees the committees that fall in his or her jurisdiction. Every member of our Club is asked to volunteer for a committee of their choice. Current committees include:
Club Service [Director: Lynanne Fowle]
Develops and organizes membership programs (recruitment and retention), club fellowship activities (social), and club communication efforts
Membership Recruitment [Chair: Tollan Wade]
Includes, but is not limited to, greeting and welcoming activities, assisting with membership ceremonies, ordering membership gifts (pins, badges, manuals, etc.).
Membership Retention [Chair: Tollan Wade]
(Includes, but is not limited to, mentoring programs, recognition programs, and educating members on Rotary issues.
Communication [Chair: Vitaliy Bezrodnov]
Provides the public with information about Rotary, promotes the club’s service projects and activities, and communicates with Club members about activities and events.
Fellowship [Chair: Open]
Keeps calendar of events and schedules/organizes one social event per month, plus installation social and Christmas party. Finds ways to make club membership more fun and interesting!
Community Service [Director: Christopher Abbott]
Develops club participation humanitarian and vocational projects that address the needs of our community and communities in other countries. Also oversees fundraising projects that provide the Club’s ability to support its vocational and humanitarian projects.
Fundraising Committee [Chair: Open]
Will develop 1-2 more fundraising opportunities for the Club, each of which will have its own planning committee, like the golf tournament.
Golf Tournament Planning Committee [Chair: Bonnie Womble]
Only meets from December to May each year – plans annual golf tournament.
Meals on Wheels [Chair: Christopher Abbott]
We deliver meals 2-3 times a month in Fuquay-Varina.
Roadside Pickup [Chair: Open]
We pick up trash on Purfoy Rd. on any 5th Saturday of the month (usually once a quarter).
Vocational Service [Director: Thomas Ray]
Coordinates any Club efforts and projects in the community that are related to education, including the Interact group at the high school.
Interact Club [Chair: Thomas Ray]
Helps support high school group, which meets every Thursday at 2:30 at the high school.
RYLA [Chair: Willem Bodisco Massink]
Only meets for a couple of months in the Fall to interview and select candidates for April event.
Scholarship and Awards Committee [Chair: Open]
Only meets for a couple of months in the Spring to interview and select candidates.
Fuquay Youth Initiative (FYI)
Pat Meacham serves on their Board of Directors.
Ambassadorial Scholar
Lynanne Fowle is the sponsor of our Ambassadorial Scholar who will begin her studies in South Africa in January 20009.
International Service [Director: Willem Bodisco Massink]
Develops programs to support The Rotary Foundation through both financial contributions and program participation. This committee also works with the community and club service committees to bring international flavor to community and club events (speakers, programs, fundraisers, etc.).
GSE Team [Chair: Lynanne Fowle]
Locates hosts and businesses for the Team to visit each year – usually 3-4 days in the spring.
Youth Exchange Program [Chair: Willem Bodisco Massink]
Only meets from December to May each year – plans annual golf tournament
Peace Scholars [Chair: Open]
Made up of host family members of those hosting Peace fellows.
Rotary Foundation [Chair: Charles McLaurin]
Develops programs to encourage member and club donations to Rotary Foundation.
International Service Projects [Chair: Open]
